Onscreen Keyboard not working after windows update (11th Dec 2014)

    Hi Folks,

I'm running Windows 7 home premium 64 bit OS, service pack 1. Last night I installed the following Windows updates:

    KB2920792
    KB2952664
    KB2920789
    KB3004394
    KB890830
    KB2920790
    KB3013126
    KB2984942
    KB3014406
    KB3008923
    KB3009736
    KB2920793
    KB3006121
    KB3006625
    KB2596927
    KB3013410

The issue: When I restarted the system, the onscreen keyboard wouldn't start-up at the log-in screen (also tried to open the OSC at safe-mode log-in, but the same thing happens). In windows explorer, when I tried to open the windows onscreen keyboard, the following message box opened:

C:\Windows\system32\osk.exe, A referral was returned from the server
    .

Having Google searched this problem, it seems that in the last 24 hours, lots of people have been posting this problem.

I've checked cryptographic services (in both services.msc & task manager) and the service is running!

Will there be a further update to fix this problem?

    Kind regards,

    Doug.

KB3004394 has caused this issue among others. Uninstall it and you should get the onscreen keyboard back.

Microsoft has pulled this update from Windows update as well. I expect that it will be reissued when the problems are fixed.

    Thanks pbcopter,

The uninstall of KB3004394 fixed the windows on-screen keyboard both from windows explorer and from the start-up page.

    Thanks for the info

    Doug.
