CheckSUR is showing the following problems...
The only ones I think need fixing are the WUClient ones, and the vc ones (the others are more semantics errors than anything else) - but we'll see what happens when I post the fix protocol later.Code:Unavailable repair files: winsxs\manifests\x86_policy.8.0.microsoft.vc80.atl_1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b_8.0.50727.762_none_8e053e8c6967ba9d.manifest winsxs\manifests\x86_microsoft.vc80.atl_1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b_8.0.50727.762_none_11ecb0ab9b2caf3c.manifest servicing\packages\Microsoft-Windows-IE-Hyphenation-Parent-Package-Dutch~31bf3856ad364e35~~~11.2.9412.0.mum servicing\packages\Microsoft-Windows-IE-Hyphenation-Parent-Package-English~31bf3856ad364e35~~~11.2.9412.0.mum servicing\packages\Microsoft-Windows-IE-Spelling-Parent-Package-Dutch~31bf3856ad364e35~~~11.2.9412.0.mum servicing\packages\Microsoft-Windows-IE-Spelling-Parent-Package-English~31bf3856ad364e35~~~11.2.9412.0.mum servicing\packages\WUClient-SelfUpdate-Core-AdmComp~31bf3856ad364e35~x86~nl-NL~7.6.7600.256.mum servicing\packages\WUClient-SelfUpdate-Core-AdmComp~31bf3856ad364e35~x86~~7.6.7600.256.mum servicing\packages\WUClient-SelfUpdate-Core-CoreComp~31bf3856ad364e35~x86~nl-NL~7.6.7600.256.mum servicing\packages\WUClient-SelfUpdate-Core-UIComp~31bf3856ad364e35~x86~nl-NL~7.6.7600.256.mum servicing\packages\Microsoft-Windows-IE-Hyphenation-Parent-Package-Dutch~31bf3856ad364e35~~~11.2.9412.0.cat servicing\packages\Microsoft-Windows-IE-Hyphenation-Parent-Package-English~31bf3856ad364e35~~~11.2.9412.0.cat servicing\packages\Microsoft-Windows-IE-Spelling-Parent-Package-Dutch~31bf3856ad364e35~~~11.2.9412.0.cat servicing\packages\Microsoft-Windows-IE-Spelling-Parent-Package-English~31bf3856ad364e35~~~11.2.9412.0.cat servicing\packages\WUClient-SelfUpdate-Core-AdmComp~31bf3856ad364e35~x86~nl-NL~7.6.7600.256.cat servicing\packages\WUClient-SelfUpdate-Core-AdmComp~31bf3856ad364e35~x86~~7.6.7600.256.cat servicing\packages\WUClient-SelfUpdate-Core-CoreComp~31bf3856ad364e35~x86~nl-NL~7.6.7600.256.cat servicing\packages\WUClient-SelfUpdate-Core-UIComp~31bf3856ad364e35~x86~nl-NL~7.6.7600.256.cat
...are you sure this system is running 64-bit Windows? - the Windows Update Agent files show it to be a 32-bit install! (as does the CBS.log data)
I'll fix what I know I can fix here - and leave the IE area alone for the moment.
I've uploaded a file - p74aa.zip - to my OneDrive at Noel's OneDrive
Please download and save it.
Right-click on the downloaded file, and select Extract all…
Extract to the default location - which will create a new folder p74aa in the same place.
Open this folder - there should be two folders inside it (Manifests, and Packages)
Copy the content of the Packages folder to the folder
C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\Servicing\Packages
And the content of the manifests folder (.manifest files) into this folder:
C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\Winsxs\Manifests
Now run the CheckSUR tool again (it may take a while)
Post the new CheckSUR.log file, and the CheckSUR.persist.log file.
Thanks for your reply.
This computer is running "Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit SP1".
It is not my own computer. The information comes from a Dutch colleague. I post this on his behalf.
I don't see the file p74aa.zip, only P74.zip. Do you mean that one?I've uploaded a file - p74aa.zip - to my OneDrive at Noel's OneDrive
Ok, downloaded it.
I'll pass this information to the owner of the computer and let you know the results.
The owner of the computer has some questions:
1)
The CheckSur logfiles were created with the command dism /online /cleanup-image /scanhealth
Should he use that command again or use THIS tool?
2)
These folders do not exists:
C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\Servicing\Packages
C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\Winsxs\Manifests
Should he create these folders first?
1) this command has no effect in Windows 7 - SFC should be used instead.
2) Those folders are created by the CheckSUR tool - but may be deleted by some system 'cleanup tools'
Yes, if you create the folders they will work with the tool.
