    'Windows is not genuine' notification

    Good evening

I have run the activation routine numerous times and been advised that my copy of Windows is Activated and Genuine yet after a while I get the 'Windows is not genuine' notification in the bottom righthand corner. I have found that right clicking on 'Computer' then selecting 'Properties' fixes it for awhile but it always comes back.

I selected the link provided by Noel on the first page, sadly it no longer works but I did find the iata_enu.exe file on their website. I ran the file but I receive a popup advising me that it is only compatible with Intel 800 series chipsets. I have a Gigabyte B75M-D3H Ivy bridge motherboard with an Intel CI5 3330 3GHz 6MB LGACPU. What can I do to resolve this?

There's no obvious errors in your report.
It sounds like your problem is probably a race condition - what Security software is installed?

    Hi NoelDP

Thank you for your prompt response. I am currently using F-Secure Internet Security version 2.15 build 358. I upgraded to this version last month. Previously I was using F-Secure Internet Security 2010 with yearly upgrades.

    Regards

When you upgraded, did you completely uninstall the older version first? I've found that often, race conditions are the result of residues from old AV's getting in the way of the new ones.

No. I had manually selected the update option because it advised me that my updates were old. Normally the updates happen automatically. After the updates finished a popup displayed offering an upgrade to the latest version which I selected.

Hi NoelDP it has just occured to me that it mentioned that it was going to uninstall the old version. I assume that it did so because it said it was uninstalling it but I have no way of knowing if it removed everything.

Unfortunately, most 'built-in' uninstallers are incredibly inefficient - and really need the backup of the dedicated uninstaller to get the job done.
After that, the installer can do the job it's supposed to do, properly.

I'd suggest uninstalling the current version, running the uninstaller, then running the new installer again and seeing if there's a difference in response.
