Windows 7 USB Device Windows Update ISSUES!

Hello, I'm a complete n00b to forum malarky stuff. Hope this is the right board. So you will have to bare with me. However I am at my end, and have turned to you lot for some advice. I hope theres at least 1 person who can help!!!!

OK SO! Basically I have been running the RTM version of Windows 7 professional on my PC for some time post september really. I installed all my drivers for my graphics card, display, motherboard, all fine...

Installed the antivirus.. the lot.... Just like any other self respecting serious pc user. Got it all up to scratch.

Ran windows update and microsoft update. And have been doing backups of my pc, the usual windows update, and virus scan every week...

    Seems fine!!! Doesn't it????

Ok however. Everytime I try and install a USB device onto my pc, as in plug it in the back. There are big issues. It attempts to search my pc for drivers like it usually does, then looks at windows update. But for some reason I don't know if its my pc or whatever it wont find anything on windows update. WHEN on windows vista it does it instantly!!! The device I am trying to install at the moment is microsoft lifecam cinema. Which is "WINDOWS 7 CERTIFIED" so you can see my fustration!

I have tried signing the driver software manually

I have tried rolling back my motherboard drivers

I have tried checking the USB driver thing in the BIOS

I have tried uninstalling driver software, and looking for patches, however its with practically every device.

I have tried rolling back drivers running them as if it was windows xp or whatever.

    -----

Still nothing. My wondering is if it is something to do with my O/s or its just purely I have got something switched off. Because I don't see why its not finding it. It attempts to pull something down from windows update but just says drivers cant be found and then when i try sign them and locate them it still wont let me...

Thank you very much to whoever has read this! Will try check back and answer any Q's. If you have any advice would be hugggely appreciated. Will give a little gift to anyone who has a quick fix for this! :P

    x86 or x64?

Right click it in the device manager. Properties. Details tab. Change dropdown to hardware ids. Copy and paste (no screenshots please) to here and I'll se what I can do.
