Security Updates not installing.

Since 11th February I have found that a number of Windows Security Updates, probably about 8, are failing to install even though I have tried to install them on different days since that date. In particular there are 4 important updates that show up for installation each time I log on. The 4 are: KB3023562; KB3004375; KB3031432; KB2952664. Error codes that appear are 80070490 and 80073701. I would be grateful if someone could come up with a solution, or advice, on how to solve the problem.

I have done as you suggested Layback Bear and also carried out further checks as advised at the following website "http://superuser.com/questions/471883/windows-update-stuck-fix-it-is-stuck-so-is-kb947821-what-should-i-do" If anyone else is inclined to do the same be warned that I did have to let the Hotfix KB 947821 run overnight as it seems to be doing nothing if you watch it. Anyway, it installed itself and the important updates which was some success. However I now find I have a Recommended Update KB2952664 which will not install and is throwing up Error Code 80073701. On further investigation I found that this update was installed on my computer some time ago and the present one must be an update to an update. I tried to remove the old version, as suggested elsewhere, but got a message that some files would not remove so stuck. I believe the update is to make your computer ready for Windows 8 or 10 so I am not too bothered. It is just very time consuming and annoying having to research and execute fairly complicated procedures to keep Windows 7 up to date. I would also comment that the Microsoft System Update Readiness Tool website is an unholy mess, at least that is my opinion.

Further to my recent message perhaps I should firstly say that I am running Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit with an AMD processor.
The update that keeps failing to install is KB2952664 and error code 80073701 refers.
I have attached (I hope) the CBS zip file and would be grateful if you can advise me what I need to do to get the update to install. CBS - Shortcut.zip

Hello Gordon

In the zip-file is only a shortcut included, not the logs. The specialists here need the logs (and cab-files if there are any). The best thing to do is to copy the whole folder to your desktop (perhaps with the right-mouse button and then choose "copy here" when releasing) and make the zip after that.

Greetings

404-File or directory not found. This is beginning to be one big pain. Am beginning to wish I hadn't bothered. Will try again later.

My thanks to Layback Bear, DaBlacky and NoelDB for taking the trouble to respond to my rants. I am attempted once again to upload some of the files in the Log folder. The Persist files seem to be compressed already and won't, from what I could see, compress further to get below 8mb. However, I have attached a recent one which is smaller than the 8mb limit in the hope that this contains the necessary information. I have put three other files into one folder. Any help with this ongoing problem would be appreciated.Attachment 350944

Ouch!
Here's the summary from the CheckSUR.log file...

You had fairly massive corruption present - some of it in a patch originally released in 2010, before Service Pack 1 was released!
I'm not sure whether attempting to fix this manually is the best option for you - it may be that the corruption is more widespread than it appears, and that your better option would be a repair install.
Unfortunately, the SFC data is in neither of the posted logs.
The background CBS data shows little apart from the expected errors from the corruption found by CheckSUR, so it's a toss-up as far as I'm concerned.
