Cannot download or install Windows 7 SP1 no matter what

I am having a nightmare of a time and would very much appreciate any support and advice.

I cannot sucessfully complete download and install Windows 7 SP1 for my Windows 7 Home premium operating system. I have followed all available instructions from Windows and other forums to no avail.

As recommended by Windows, I ran the FIX IT software to update any drivers to no avail. I also tried to download and install their recommended Driver update software that wasn't free, and so did not continue with the operation and uninstalled it. Apparent outdated drivers (according to the un-free one) appear to be the REALTECK ones, yet there are no warnings of out-dated drivers in my device manager to indicate any outdated drivers. I am now downloading a free Driver Boost software programme, yet doubtful that it will resolve the issue. I do not have any anti-virus running either, and have selected the appropriate (enable) downloads in my Internet Options software to allow all downloads.

The error message I appear to get whilst downloading Windows 7 service pack 1 - code error. I want to install IE 11 but cannot do this without having the SP1 installed.

Apart from the updated drivers on my PC which do not need upgrading, and not having any programme blocking the successful installation of SP1 - I am at a loss as to what I need to do to get it installed. I could manipulate registry keys, yet this is quite risky and may not resolve the problem either.

Please follow the Windows Update Posting Instructions and post the requested data

If the file is too large (8MB compressed), remove the older CBSPersist cab files until the final file is below the limit - you can always post them separately after zipping them. (the forum doesn't allow the upload of bare CAB files, for a number of reasons)

Please also post the C:\Windows\windowsudpate.log file
