Two Repeating Updates - KB3021952 & KB3032359

Hello Forum,

The two updates described above keep repeating. I do a disk clean-up before each shutdown with Disk Cleanup and CCleaner. The updates had installed about four times each. They appear to install successfully each time.

I contacted MS tech support Friday and the support tech was unable to resolve the issue after deleting my update logs and running some utility software. The case was referred to a level two tech. Yesterday, the level two tech indicated that some services were corrupted and just initiated a repair install. I just completed the repair install with all the updates and the issue is still not resolved. The two updates of interest have loaded, successfully, at least five times each. I called MS again and they have scheduled a support session with a level two tech again for tomorrow.

Is anyone else having this issue?

I don't think it's a computer issue on my end. My system was running fine with the exception of these two updates and MS's solution was to reload the OS. I think it's a MS update issue as has happened in the past.

Regards

Yes, same here on two different Win7 systems. Not only do KB3021952 & KB3032359 repeat, but so do KB3004375 and KB3031432. I've reinstalled all of these twice.

These updates are IE11 cumulative security updates. I'm running Win 7 Pro x64. So, this issue may only be experienced by users running IE11 on Win 7 x64 and doing a disk clean-up.

In Urthboundmisfit's post, his links references a connection with Microsoft's Disk Cleanup utility. This utility was updated last year to also clean-up old Window Update installations in the winsxs folder. It allowed me to get back over 1GB of disk space from winsxs. I run this after several reboots after any Windows Updates.

The link discussion mentioned that this utility may be causing the window update repeats, as some of the information about installed updates is being "cleaned". Makes sense to me. It also said the MS is looking at this.............

Thanks for the replies!

this is the most exact description of a problem. both mentioned updates are being offered back to be installed (in smaller size) only after a Windows cleanup!

this odd issue is confirmed for 3 Win7 PCs both x64 & x86.

Not Always What It Appears to Be

I've experienced this issue as well. The updates say that they are for:
1) Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 11 for Windows 7 (KB3021952)
2) Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 11 for Windows 7 (KB3032359)

However, upon looking up the KB in Microsoft they are actually for:
1) Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 10 for Windows 8 (KB3021952) Download Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 10 for Windows 8 (KB3021952) from Official Microsoft Download Center
2) Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 10 for Windows 8 (KB3032359)
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/down....aspx?id=46072

So it looks like there is an issue with Microsoft sending an incorrect update to Windows 7. I would just hide them for now...

Two Repeating Updates - KB3021952 & KB3032359

I too have the same issue after running the disk cleanup utility with updates KB3004375 & KB3031432. Operating system is win7 home prem x64. I have installed the updates twice and they register as successful in the windows update log but the update utility still says they need to be installed. I have ran the miscrosoft windows update 'fix it' utility to no avail... An error in Microsoft coding of these updates most likely?
