It means that if you buy a new disk, you have to know whether to get a Sata disk or an IDE disk. They are different.

well the hard drive that I got for it for the laptop that I got is ATA/IDE
no its the one that crashed on me it's only 80 gigabyte and it's older than the computer itself hard drive I think was the original when it was XP Professional I even bought a new driver updater disk drive everything and that's when it crashed so I guess that's what I figure out that it needed a new hard drive but when I get a new hard drive I have to read do the windows and I was wondering if that's why I want to know which Windows 7 I should use the 32bit or the 64 bit windows 7 home premium but on my laptop
Only with more than 4GB of RAM would you use a 64bit Windows. An 80GB disk is a bit small for Windows and the user files. I would get at least 320GB.
Look at the other thread you started:
need help with my laptop
well the hard drive I'm buying is the 500 GB in the room that I have in there it only holds 1 2GB Ram stick so which one you think would be best
