Since MS wrapped Messenger into Skype I suppose they see it as some sort of benefit. I just don't need it. Send me an email or call me on the phone. :)

Gosh, I guess I'm really "disconnected" these days. I still have a flip-phone.
You aren't the only one who feels that way, including the flip-phone.

I miss my flip phone the screen was always so clean
Not only that, the screen doesn't get scratched up and you didn't have to worry about "butt dialing".

    Really.
I don't have a phone you can carry around of any kind and never have.
The last thing in my life is a phone ringing.

I agree. That's why my cell phone stays turned off until I need it. I got my cell phone primarily for emergencies.

    The notorious butt ring :)
I had several of those from other people,
One butt ring voice message that was several hours long
Had a good laugh the next day with the guy lol

That reminds me of the time I got an angry voice mail on my cell phone that claimed I had been harassing them from my phone (I hadn't even turned it on in several weeks) then forgot to hang up after the rant (I could hear them talking in the background). I had to wait 30 minutes for the voice mail to time out so I could delete the message and free up my voice mail.

Usually you can hit 7 to delete while the message is being played.

Sadly, not with my antique Oystr (don't laugh; it still meets my needs, can't be "butt dialed", and I'm only paying the equivalent of $7.30/month to use it).

Yet another reason to keep automatic updates of anything disabled and preferably firewalled.

And about Skype, since the Microsoft takeover it was only getting worse and worse. The fact that MS wants to infect all Windows computers with it, regardless of user preference, and the fact that Win10 comes with it bundled is not a good sign of what "features" it might include some day. We need to think in a serious alternative.
