How to remove Windows 10 upgrade updates in Windows 7 and 8

No doubt! It wouldn't surprise me if the free upgrade offer was extended as well.

I like windows 10. I have some issue with W10. No dvd player but that is becoming less needed. I have dvd player as well. The privacy issue doesn't bother as it did before after reading about Microsoft fighting the government. The main issue that is holding back is the automated upgrade. Since, I dual boot with Linux. So, I use Grub. When Grub is installed. Windows 10 will not install or upgrade to a new release, it will actually rollback. I think the reason W10 can't get access to MBR. So every new release, I would have to remove grub, install release, then restore grub back.

None of those seem to be Windows 10 related. They're optional though so you have to decide if they're relevant to your system.

Agreed but the Optional section should be mostly ignored :)
Unless it is a new update client would be the exception or net framework 4.6.1

Wow, is this really true? If so it could be the answer to many people's prayer! Install GRUB - who knew?

I'll have to try this -

Install Win7,
Make a 10GB unallocated partition
Install Linux with GRUB (Linux Mint for example)
No more Win10 update worries!

I'll try it this weekend.

OK, first idea needed modification - deleting Linux not a good idea.

Soooo, has anyone used GRUB2WIN? It sounds like it should work. Perhaps I'll try that first.

It is a little bit more complicated to get windows 10 to work and Linux to to dual boot. I did read somewhere Microsoft is only going to have 3 or 4 release per year for windows 10, so it may not be that bad after all. One note, I think 10gb maybe to small for Linux. I use the mbr partition schemes.

That method you used should of worked with windows 7 sp1. I don't think it is exactly the same steps I used but close to it.
