windows update fails - no error message

i have tried to run a windows update but it hangs, there is no error message, the surt keeps running have ran it for over2 hrs, the sfc /scannow errors with Windows Resource Protection Could Not Start the Repair Service error. i have made sure the service is started, i have ran malwarebytes, superantispyware, eset online scan

Please follow the Windows Update Posting Instructions and post the requested data

If the file is too large (8MB compressed), remove the older CBSPersist cab files until the final file is below the limit - you can always post them separately after zipping them. (the forum doesn't allow the upload of bare CAB files, for a number of reasons)

Please also post the C:\Windows\windowsudpate.log file

hi noel i tried to do that, but the surt was running for over 4 hrs today and did nothing. The sfc/scannow fails to run i have included my cbs file and windows update log, i also ran through this Windows Update - Reset[3]=Windows%20Updates but this also never worked

I suspect that you have a hardware problem - most likely bad RAM.

RAM - Test with Memtest86+ - run at least 4 full passes and see what the results are like.
Even one error, and you need to think about where to go from there.

Check the RAM in other slots if possible - or using one stick at a time. but yes, it does sound like you either have to replace the RAM or the motherboard.

thanks for your time noel the laptop is over 5 years old so will probs be cheaper to get a new one. its been in the wars missing keys, power port damage lol
