Windows 7 (Build 7601) - Windows Not Genuine Error 0x8004fe22

    Hi all,

Randomly had a not-genuine error pop up on me last night. The copy of windows IS genuine, I purchased this PC directly from DigitalStorm and never had any issues until last night. I'd like to repair any missing/corrupt files if possible.

After searching high and low I've found a few steps to try and diagnose the issue: I've run chkdsk on the OS HD, and then ran SFC SCANNOW from elevated cmd.

I've included the CBS.log and I've also run the diagnostics tool, here are the results (below)

Thank you SO MUCH for any help you can provide!!!

    All the best,

    Mike

I do believer part of your problem is you haven't activated your Windows 7.

    From the log.

Notification Reason: 0xC004F009 (grace time expired)

I don't believe that's the issue. A fully paid, valid copy of Windows 7 Professional was included and installed by DigitalStorm.

Go ahead and reactivate at Control Panel>System>Activation>Change Product Key with the Product Key on the COA sticker which must be affixed to the PC when Win7 is resold by a builder.

Thanks for the tip! Here's the issue - I click on "Change Product Key" at the very bottom of the system window and nothing happens? Also, if I click "You must acticate today. Activate Windows now" link, nothing happens either.

    That sounds like serious corruption.

But first try typing CMD in Start button Search BOX, rightclick result at top to Run as Admin,

to insert the Product Key type
    Code:
    slmgr -ipk xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx
    followed by Enter.

    Then to activate type
    Code:
    slmgr -ato
    then Enter.

If all these fail then type
    Code:
    SFC /scannow
    and Enter.

Compare the install you have to the perfect install compiled in Clean Reinstall Windows 7 as now might be the time to join the 1.5+ million who've followed those steps and have the best installs of Win7 in the world. Not one has come back with problems or complaints.

Short of that you could do a Repair Install

The problem here is a SIMPLE ONE- and DOES NOT require a repair install - or a clean install.

To confirm that the problem is what I think it is, please run the following commands in an Elevated Command Prompt window and post the results.

    REG QUERY HKLM\SOFTWARE\Classes\Wow6432Node\TypeLib\{EE574957-4077-4AD6-8658-327C2C86C5AA} /S
    REG QUERY HKLM\SOFTWARE\Classes\TypeLib\{EE574957-4077-4AD6-8658-327C2C86C5AA} /S
    REG QUERY HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Classes\TypeLib\{EE574957-4077-4AD6-8658-327C2C86C5AA} /S

Here are some instructions to make life easier :)
    1) To open an Elevated Command Prompt Window (the ECP window), click on Start, All Programs, Accessories – then right-click on Command Prompt, and select Run as Administrator. Accept the UAC prompt.
    2) To run the commands easier, highlight the block of commands, and right-click on the highlight – select Copy. In the CP Window, click on the black/white icon at top left – select Paste. The commands will run but may not complete the last command, so hit the Enter Key once.
    3) To copy the results... click on the Black/White icon in the top left, and select Edit... 'Select All', and hit the Enter key - then use Ctrl+V or r-click+Paste to paste it into your response.

Sorry on delay - just got back from an extended business trip to lovely Wisconsin!

    Here's the results!

I'm assuming the fact the keys are missing is a bad thing?

    Yep - here's what's hopefully the fix...

    I've uploaded a file - sluicom64.zip - to my OneDrive at Noel's OneDrive
Please download and save it to your desktop.
Right-click on the saved file and select Extract all...
Save it to the default location
This should create a file sluicom64.reg

right-click on the file, and select Merge
Accept the warnings, - you should then get a 'Success' message.
    Close all windows, and reboot.

Run another MGADiag report, and post the results.

So I added the registry keys with your file (thank you!) and here are the results from MGADiag report below. Oddly enough, right before running this a window popped up saying I'm not running a genuine copy of Windows, BUT, the desktop watermark is no longer present and the MGADiag tool says its genuine now. Weird.

Thanks so much for your help so far Noel, it's truly appreciated!
