Windows 7 Windows Update service not working
Hi I am having a problem with my windows update service.
I have recently had a few computer issues and I am trying to work through them to fix up my computer as good as possible without requiring a fresh windows install as I have no wish to purchase a new windows 7 disc,
I have come across an issue in running windows update. When i click check for updates it says "Windows update cannot currently check for updates because the service is not running. You may need to restart your computer"
I have restarted my computer, turned off the automatic updates, restarted again, turned it back on, restarted again and same issue.
I have run the NETSTART commands I have found on the internet, those are:
I have attempted to install the system update readiness tool however when it downloaded I recieved an error: "Installer encountered an error: 0x80070424 the specified service does not exist as an installed service."Code:Microsoft Windows [Version 6.1.7601] Copyright (c) 2009 Microsoft Corporation. EDIT: Forgot to add I ran sfc /scannow and the tool didn't detect any issues
