    Windows Update error 80070663 (Win7 SP1 x64)

Windows Update problems (updates failing) so
    Ran Windows Update Fixit
    Ran Windows Update fixit 50202
Ran windows update again and, after rebooting and trying again, 16 updates failed Code 80070663. All office 2013 updates.
(I also have Office 2010 installed - Excel only and that gives no problems)
The failures are all office 2013 updates

Sounds like Office 2013 is damaged.
Control Panel->Change eventually reports installation of office 2013 damaged.

    So uninstall Office 2013
Error - Uninstall - Office 2013 did not uninstall successfully

so use Fixit ( O15CTRRemoveOffice2013.diagcab) to uninstall Office 2013. It reports office 2013 successfully uninstalled. Reboot on principle!
Then I had to repair office 2010 (Excel)
Then I had to reinstall (computer not configured to run this program) Office 2007 (Excel)
Then I did windows update just to get them up to scratch. 39 Updates required.
37 installed OK 2 Not required.
Then a reboot - general principles!

Then office update again - 83 updates (2GB)!! Some number (I forget) to install.
Reboot and install updates again - 10 failed all with code 80070663 All Offfice 2013 updates

There are no errors in either CBS or CheckSUR logs

The last time a run of CheckSUR found a problem was '2015-04-27 12:25' - it fixed it.

    Please post the C:\Windows\windowsupdate.log file

I think the important failures here are these...
    Code:
Line 9554: 2015-06-13 07:23:05:323 1384 8af0 Report REPORT EVENT: {BB5AA0F3-D4CB-4634-9574-6986FE451D0C} 2015-06-13 07:22:33:593+0100 1 182 101 {4115A4DC-76D7-44D2-82CB-976ED074B1DF} 200 80070663 AutomaticUpdates Failure Content Install Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x80070663: Update for Microsoft OneDrive for Business (KB2920746) 32-Bit Edition.

There are a number of similar ones
It's not an error code I'm familiar with but a quick google shows that this may give us some iinfotmation...

Please open an Elevated Command Prompt, and run the following commands

    REG QUERY "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Sms\Mobile Client\Reboot Management\JobCounter"
    REG QUERY "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Sms\Mobile Client\Reboot Management"

    Post the results

(however, I rather expect it to report 'not found'!)

Here are some instructions to make lifeeasier :)

    1) To open anElevated Command Prompt Window (the ECP window), click on Start, All Programs,Accessories – then right-click on Command Prompt, and select Run asAdministrator. Accept the UAC prompt.

    2) To run thecommands easier, highlight the block of commands, and right-click on thehighlight – select Copy. In the CP Window, click on the black/white icon at topleft – select Paste. The commands will run but may not complete the lastcommand, so hit the Enter Key once.

    3) To copy theresults... click on the Black/White icon in the top left, and select Edit...'Select All', and hit the Enter key - then use Ctrl+V or r-click+Paste to pasteit into your response.

I'm coming to that (the first idea was from the first Google hit I got)

Have you tried a repair install of Office? - from the Programs install list?

Well the short answeer is "I dont know"!!
On a previous pass thought this process I tried that and forgot about it. Some indeterminable time later I got a message telling me the installation was corrupt and as a result, reinstalled Office 2013. That was yesterday!!!

I have done nothing (with Office or updates or installing) since the reinstall.
About an hour ago I set up Office 2013->Change (which I think gets me to a repair) but since then nothing. I dont even know how to tell if its running!!

When I click 'Change' the Office Setup window appears (please wwait while setup gets the necessary files - or something like that) for a second of so. A process setup.exe appears on task manager and then disappears. I cant tell if its spawned something else

I have to go out in about 45 minutes and will be away from this problem until Monday. If there is sometihng yu want me to do in the meanwhile, please let me know
    Thanks

Well I donk know what is happening with Office Repair. So I googled away, found and downloaded Microsoft Office Configuration Analyzer (Offcat), installed it and ran it

Well that was actually helpful. It tells me I have to have Office 2013 SP1 installed. Quite why Windows Update didn't do that remains a mystery. So I will download, install and try again and report back

Now I really do have to clear off and do useful stuff. So I'll report back on Sunday eve/Monday morning.
    Good weekend.
