"view update history" page is completely blank!!

Sorry to bother you again, but I noted a problem with my Windows 7 computer and update log.

My "view update history" page is completely blank!! Furthermore, my windows update page states that "Updates were installed: Never"

However, if I click on my "Installed Updates" page, it clearly shows that last updates I recieved/installed was on 6/10/15 and more importantly, it shows the all the previous updates that I received are is intact.

What happened?? -- how do i get my "view update history" page to show what it had always shown before (i.e. all the updates I have received up until now??

Any help would be much appreciated?

By the way, do recommend installing all updates (important, recommended, optional) or just important vs just important and recommended...etc?

The update history is almost certainly gone forever - this is often caused when running a MS Fixit solution, as it may delete the SoftwareDistribution folder which holds the data.
    It's nothing to worry about.

I never ran MS Fixit solution or any new fix it tool/program that I am aware of?? I never reset the Windows Update either.

How did this happen and is there anyway to make sure it does not happen again??

Is there absolutely no way to get the "view update history" back?? -- it was nice to see what updates were installed, which ones failed....etc.

The Update History is very largely irrelevant - the ONLY entries in that that are relevant are the last one or two attempts at installation - and then really only if there's a failure.

In general, you should install ALL Important or Critical updates, and most Recommended. You can pick and choose over the Optional ones.

I had this happen on my system after I uninstalled one of the W10 prep. updates. I don't recall which one. The update history is indeed gone forever, but as posted earlier, it's immaterial to operation. All updates since the uninstall event have recorded fine in the history page. I have had no issues since the uninstall of the W10 prep. update.

You can use View Installed Updates for a more permanent look into what has been installed.

Click on Start and search for that.
