    error installing .NET 4.5.2 windows installer service not available..

    ran windows update and received error code 656 and 641.
    download .net 4.5.2 offline and received windows installer service not available.
    verified that installer service did start when update kicked off.
    unregistered and reregistered Msiexec.exe
    ran windows update troubleshooter
    reset Windows update (cleared .db etc.)
    ran SFC-> came back clean
    ran SRUT - > failed to install

    see attached pic and logs.
    -- could upload the whole CBS folder as it was 57mb zipped. attached the current cbs.log file

    any help would be appreciated

    Please post the CheckSUR.log and CheckSUR.Persist.log files.

    Please downloadthe Farbar Service Scanner from

    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/farbar-service-scanner/

    Right-click onthe saved file and select 'Run as Administrator', and tick all the options,then click on the Scan button - copy and paste the report to your response.

    NoelDP,

    is the checkSUR.log part of SRUT? if so, that won't install so I don't have that log

    see attached Fabar log

    I un-cabbed a cbspersist.log and got the size down to where it can be uploaded. see attached.

    The only anomaly in the Farbar is the following:
    Code:
    Firewall Disabled Policy:
    ==================
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\SharedAccess\Parameters\FirewallPolicy\StandardProfile]
    "EnableFirewall"=DWORD:0
    - do you have a third-party firewall installed? Which one, if so?

    I had avira installed, but removed it a few days ago as part of troubleshooting this issue.

    Avira isn't a firewall - it's an Anti-Virus
    Follow the instructions here to make sure that it's completely removed.
    What AV is currently installed?

    Correct Avira is A/V, but it also provides a software firewall that runs in place of the MS firewall. Mute point As I stated I uninstalled it a few days ago. currently no A/V is installed.

    In that case you need to switch on the Windows Firewall, and install MSE as anti-virus. You may already be infected! - so once installed, run a full system scan
