    Not sure about that

    The CheckSUR results show progress...
    Code:
    Summary:
    Seconds executed: 2646
     Found 4 errors
     Fixed 3 errors
CBS MUM Missing Total count: 4
Fixed: CBS MUM Missing. Total count: 3
Fixed: CBS Paired File. Total count: 3
    Unavailable repair files:
     servicing\packages\Microsoft-Windows-Winhelp-Update-Client-TopLevel~31bf3856ad364e35~x86~~6.1.0.1.mum
     servicing\packages\Microsoft-Windows-Winhelp-Update-Client-TopLevel~31bf3856ad364e35~x86~~6.1.0.1.cat
... but I'm not sure why the 4th one failed, as the upload contained the right files.... AH - I misnamed them!

    I've uploaded a file - hihab.zip - to my OneDrive at Noel's OneDrive

    Please download and save it.

Right-click on the downloaded file, and select Extract all…

Extract to the default location - which will create a new folder hihab in the same place.

Open this folder- there should be one folder inside it (Packages)

Copy the content of the Packages folder to the folder

    C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\Servicing\Packages

Now run the CheckSUR tool again (it may take a while)

Post the new CheckSUR.log file, and the CheckSUR.persist.log file.

    Something's going wrong somewhere....
    Code:
    Summary:
    Seconds executed: 3742
     Found 1 errors
CBS MUM Missing Total count: 1
    Unavailable repair files:
     servicing\packages\Microsoft-Windows-Winhelp-Update-Client-TopLevel~31bf3856ad364e35~x86~~6.1.0.1.mum
     servicing\packages\Microsoft-Windows-Winhelp-Update-Client-TopLevel~31bf3856ad364e35~x86~~6.1.0.1.cat
    ...again

The new files definitely have the correct names, as far as I can tell - and they are the correct files.

    I don't know what's going wrong

You didn't get any error messages copying the files to the Packages folder?

KB2604121+KB2468871 update failure+ SFC /scannow failure to repair

    Hi NoelDP,

No, I didn't receive any error message but I thought it best to repeat the last series of actions.

I went back to your zip file and, whereas previously I had just clicked the packages contents with 'copy to' ... and then copied the log files, today I actually opened the Temp\CheckSUR\Servicing\Packages before executing the 'copy to' command.

There was a difference between the two sets of files: yesterday's files read:

    x86~~6.1.0.1.cat x86~~6.1.0.1.mum

    today's x86~6.1.0.1.cat x86~6.1.0.1.mum

I removed the ~~ files and saved them with OLD at the end of each and then re-copied the log files which are attached.

    Hopefully ?????

Those ones are left over from the first attempt - where I bungled the name - they shouldn't make any difference, and didn't succeed this time either, since CheckSUR simply ignores them.

I suspect that the problem lies in the registry, but I'm rather at a loss as to where!

    Let's try this...

Please download SFCFix from here... http://www.sysnative.com/niemiro/apps/SFCFix.exe and save it to your desktop (we'll need it later anyhow, I think)

Once saved, double-click on it and accept the warnings. It'll run, and create a file SFCFix.log on the desktop - please upload it to your reply.

    HELLO is there anyone there?

I just want to check if anything is happening: it's now a week since I sent the SFCFix text and your last post did suggest that there would be some follow up i.e. 'later' in quote below.

"Please download SFCFix from here... http://www.sysnative.com/niemiro/apps/SFCFix.exe and save it to your desktop (we'll need it later anyhow, I think)"

If things are being progressed and just taking time then forgive my insecurity but some reassurance would be excellent ......

If so that would be excellent - BUT - I don't wish to create any undue pressure: as long as I'm not forgotten ....

Incidentally, KB2604121 & 2468871 have now been joined by 3035583.

KB3035583 is the Windows 10 nag/upgrade offer - you could always hide that if you don't want to upgrade to Win 10

Let's have a look at your registry - maybe there's a problem there that I'm not picking up on.
I need to have a look at your COMPONENTS registry hive

Please copy the C:\Windows\System32\config\COMPONENTS file (no extension) to your desktop and then compress it - upload the compressed file to your favoured fileshare site (preferably Dropbox or OneDrive) and post a link.
