    Windows Update: 800736B3 and 9C59

I am trying to assist a friend in repairing their windows update problems. I've made progress- but I have 5 Important updates that refuse to install...

    IE11 - 9C59
    KB2937610 - 800736B3
    KB2972211 - 800736B3
    KB3032323 - 800736B3
    KB2791765 - 800736B3

the SURT was run- and got most of the updates to work other than the ones shown above.
sfc /scannow said all files were fine.

SURT has been run 4 or so times- it's not shown any repairs after the first run... as I would expect.

I've looked through the log files, but I am not really sure what I am looking for to indicate what the problem is.

I have attempted to attach the CBS.Zip file but I got a 404 error each time I clicked "Upload". This must be due to the size of the file. Here is a onedrive link to the zip file.

The upload is 8 times larger than the forum's 8MB size limit on Zip/RAR files - which is why it wouldn't upload here

Your first run of CheckSUR had the following summary...
    Summary:
    Seconds executed: 1046
    Found 31 errors
CSI C Mark Deployment Missing Total count: 31
The next was clear of errors - how did you go about fixing the C Mark errors, since CheckSUR wasn't able to do it?

The CBS.log file shows the expected errors for the updates (apart from the IE one)
    e.g.

    Code:

This looks to me as if the install is actually stuck in a pending state, and you need to roll it back...

This is the command to run when booted offline at a Repair Environment command prompt

    dism.exe /image:C:\ /cleanup-image /revertpendingactions

This is supposed to revert all pended updates, and hopefully allow the system to start again - assuming it works, do another Check for Updates before attempting to install the updates again.

I did nothing to fix the C Mark Errors specifically- It turned out that the drive had been swapped out, and the new one needed the updated Intel RST drivers.... once I updated them, the majority of the problems went away.

Can I run the dism.exe from a booted command prompt or does it have to be at the Repair Environment one? I am not local to the PC and working on it via TeamViewer... Otherwise I will need to talk them through it.

It has to be the repair environment - either the built-in one, or from a repair disk. It's the only way to start DISM with the necessary access and permissions.
