    kb Updates keep reinstalling

    Hi

I just noticed today that a windows update keeps reinstalling the same update so I went to look at the history of the updates and found that the following updates have installed numerous times and I have hidden them but any new update also tries to reinstall.

Here are the Updates and the number of times installed
    KB2676562 X 6
    KB2871997 X 7
    KB3004375 X 7
    KB3011780 X 7
    KB3031432 X 7
    KB3033929 X 7
    KB3045999 X 8
    KB3046269 X 7
    KB2882822 X 6
    KB2952664 X 7
    KB3035583 X 5
    KB3068708 X 8
    kb2799494 X 2

Any suggestions on fixing this issue will be appreciated.

    Thank you

Please follow the Windows Update Posting Instructions and post the requested data

If the file is too large (8MB compressed), remove the older CBSPersist cab files until the final file is below the limit - you can always post them separately after zipping them. (the forum doesn't allow the upload of bare CAB files, for a number of reasons)

Please also post the C:\Windows\windowsudpate.log file

    Hi Noel

    I did the following:
    1. Ran the System Update Readiness Tool
    2. Ran sfc /scannow
    3. Uploaded CBS file and windows update log to first post.

After following all the steps for posting an update error that is the only file created in C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\ I run CC cleaner often so I reckon maybe it cleans out the old log files.

You must have something that deleted log files - please stop using it completely until we have this problem sorted.
Please go through the instructions again, and post another set of data.

...and after all that, the SFC results are error-free, and there are no errors in CheckSUR, or the background CBS.log
The Windowsupdate.log is also totally error-free.

The WU log shows it having installed the KB3065822 update, and completing the installs for KB3065822, KB3074886, and KB3075516.

Let's run through the list of updates you started with...

    KB2676562 X 6 - first released in 2012, and not apparently re-released
    KB2871997 X 7 - May 2014 - not rereleased
    KB3004375 X 7 - Feb 2015
    KB3011780 X 7 - Nov 2014
    ...
    KB2882822 X 6 - Oct 2013
KB2952664 X 7 - First released in Oct 2014 - updated multiple times since (first couple had major bugs) (W8/10)
KB3035583 X 5 re-released every month since it first came out to update definitions (W10)
    KB3068708 X 8 is an updated version of KB3022345 (W10)
    kb2799494 X 2 Feb 2013

The ones tagged (W10) are updates related to the upgrade to Windows 10 (or Windows 8/10)

Currently Windows Updates is having some problems - but I don't honestly have a clue what they mean...

I suspect that a full reset of Windows Update is going to be necessary.

Follow the instructions here - Windows Update - Reset - working through the options, and testing Windows Update after each one to see if the behaviour has changed.
At the end, post the results, and the new windowsupdate.log file.
