For Windows 7, how does one make sure Windows 10 does NOT happen?

I think that I removed the updates* that cause Windows 7 to upgrade to 10.

I got an email from Microsoft about the upgrade as if I were in the que but I assume that is just a mass mailing versus really triggered by my update situation.

*Here are the KBs that I hide/uninstalled:

KB2952664
KB3035583
KB3065987
KB3068708

My update settings are: 'Check for updates but let me choose whether to download and install them' and I have Recommended updates unchecked.

Do I need to do anything else to prevent prevent Windows 10 being trigger on my end?

What might be causing this to happen to my windows?
I recently installed a theme I found on Deviantart which looks really nice, but the top and bottom of my windows get greyed out whether I have transparency enabled or disabled. (On the original theme, the window colors are fully black.) Is there a reason this happens?

Windows 7: UAC whitelist. Secret APIs again. A lawsuit waiting to happen? This is message written by a mod at the unofficial forum for Directory Opus, a 3rd party Windows file manager. It's a interesting little read, especially since I am a Directory Opus user myself
