Windows 7: Windows not genuine messages after clone from HDD to SSD

Windows not genuine messages after clone from HDD to SSD

I have an Acer 8410T running Windows 7 Professional 64 bit and recently replaced the original HDD with a Crucial MX200 250GB 2.5 inch SSD. Having cloned the HDD content to the SSD with Acronis 2015, I started getting "This computer is not running genuine Windows messages from Windows Activation Technologies.

After 2 attempts to solve the problem by contacting Microsoft support through chat, handing control to a Microsoft chat tech, and being assured the problem was solved, I am no further ahead.

Reading Windows 7 forum responses to similar problems, I think I see how I can fix it by updating the Intel Rapid Storage Drivers, but I need to check whether it is the iata_enu.exe download I need for my computer and version of Windows and particular SSD or a different exe.

Here is my MGDIAG report

Thanks for your help.

Hi, I already did this earlier but thought the screenshot I put up on the last post would be enough, having seen other posts. So, I think this is what has been asked for:

This may simply be caused by a bad set of Intel Rapid Storage Technology drivers -

Installing the Intel Rapid Storage Drivers
try downloading and installing them from here - https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Det...&DwnldID=22194

(you want the iata_enu.exe download)

Once complete, please reboot twice, then post another MGADiag report.

If that one doesn't want to install - try this one....

I have downloaded and installed the Intel Rapid Storage Drivers as recommended and rebooted twice.

Having run MGdiag.exe, I got the attached summary report, which looks good to me, but I was not able to run the Copy feature for the more detailed report. Clicking the button did nothing.

Earlier in my investigation, had a look at the SSD device (CT250MX200SSD1.PK01 Crucial MX200 ) and noted that the Microsoft driver on it was dated 2006. I thought this might have been the problem but, as it hasn't changed, I guess that was not even part of the problem.

Nevertheless, would it be appropriate to make a complaint to Crucial that they give no warning about the need to update or add the Intel Rapid Storage drivers to avoid this problem? It seems to me that a simple instruction to do this in the circumstances would save an awful lot of wasted time and effort on the part of their customers and Windows Gurus.

Please confirm there is no need to run the Copy function on the MGDIAG report or advise how it can be run. The original diagnostic report contained a lot of potentially problematic notes and I have no idea whether they were ALL (a) real issues or (b) if they were, whether they were all associated with and solved by the installation of the Intel Rapid Storage Drivers.

Kind regards
pervigilis

Hi Noel

I would be delighted to provide the full report if you can explain to me how to do that when the copy button function generates no activity. I can some the generated files in the MGDiagToolOutput folder accessible from the License tab on the short report. These are in WinRaR (.cab) files and 4 of them are generated each time the report is run but although I can access these files, the information I can see is not helpful. It looks nothing like the full report.

Any ideas?

Meanwhile I am sure the license issue has been resolved because I received 87 Windows important update files which I would not have otherwise received.

The Copy button simply places the necessary data on the (invisible) Clipboard - ready for pasting into an application (like your response here, or Notepad).

Oh, sorry, the file content is added below.

I should also mention that since installing the drivers and receiving Windows updates, I have tried to install the updates. Although quite few were installed, some failed. I thought there might have been a shortage of free space on the SSD C drive and removed some files, but, on retry, Windows Update failed to install any of 65 updates which were a mixture of Windows 7 security, Microsoft.NET Framework updates plus Office Updates. The first one that failed was Cumulative Security Update for Inernet Explorer 11.

I tried a clean boot and re-attempt at installing the updates but they don't seem to run.
