    Hmmm - You're having Activation/Validation problems?
To properly analyse and solve problems with Activation and Validation, we need to see a full copy of the report produced by the MGADiag tool
(download and save to desktop - http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 )
    Once saved, run the tool.
Click on the Continue button, which will produce the report.
To copy the report to your response, click on the Copy button in the tool (ignore any error messages at this point), and then paste (using either r-click/Paste, or Ctrl+V ) into your response.x
    - in your own thread, please

Please also state the Version and Edition of Windows quoted on your COA sticker (if you have one) on the case of your machine (or inside the battery compartment), but do NOT quote the Key on the sticker!

The report indicates no problems at all with activation or validation - so it's not that blocking anything (although I would have expected the install to have backed out at a very early stage if there had been any problems with it).

I see you have Norton installed - this is often the cause of major problems with upgrades.
I would suggest uninstalling it at least temporarily, and installing MSE until the upgrade is done - you can then install it fresh on the new OS. (so do the backups suggested in the link below!)
You'll ned to also run the Norton Removal Tool.
Download the Norton Removal Tool from here https://www-secure.symantec.com/nort...=1&pvid=f-home

Close all other programs, then run the tool. When it's complete, reboot the machine whether it asks for it or not.

After the reboot, open an Elevated Command Prompt, and run the following command

    NETSH WINSOCK RESET

You'll be advised to reboot - do so.
    then install MSE

@NoelDP-I thought I uninstalled Norton years ago with the same tool. Well it stated that it was removed. I also did the elevated command prompt with the winsock reset. I will try to install Windows 10 again.

Thanks for your help as usual!

Ah - I misread '360 Total Security' in your specs as being Norton rather than the freebie AV.

I would still uninstall it and install MSE, as AV's are the most common external cause of problems with upgrades. also use any cleanup tool they may have for download, as well.

Please open an Elevated Command Prompt, and run the following commands:

    SC queryex BFE
    SC START BITS
    SC QC BITS
    SC Queryex BITS
    SC sdshow BITS
    sc qprivs BITS
    sc qsidtype BITS

    ...and post the results!
Here are some instructions to make life easier :)
    1) To open an Elevated Command Prompt Window (the ECP window), click on Start, All Programs, Accessories – then right-click on Command Prompt, and select Run as Administrator. Accept the UAC prompt.
    2) To run the commands easier, highlight the block of commands, and right-click on the highlight – select Copy. In the CP Window, click on the black/white icon at top left – select Paste. The commands will run but may not complete the last command, so hit the Enter Key once.
    3) To copy the results... click on the Black/White icon in the top left, and select Edit... 'Select All', and hit the Enter key - then use Ctrl+V or r-click+Paste to paste it into your response.
