WELL, since I have heard NOTHING I have taken it to another step:
I did a FRESH install for the up10th time. However, prior to running the UPDATE utility I downloaded I copied all of the UPDATE download files from the system before I did this last FRESH install. After the FRESH install I transferred the copied DOWNLOAD files to the WINDOWS\SOFTWARE DISTRIBUTION\DOWNLOAD directory. This had a positive effect for the IMPORTANT, but not the OPTIONAL updates.

STILL have NO CLUE & getting absolutely no assistance. I have compress my CBS log directory & uploaded them. This includes outputs from SFC/SCANNOW & the READINESS tool.

Anyone see anything?

Some of us have lives to lead outside the forums - which means that you may not get responses as quickly as you'd like.
If you want instant responses you'll have to pay for that service. Forums are free because they are staffed by volunteers.

Doing what you say you've done is asking for problems, since no two installations are going to be identical.
I would suggest renaming the SoftwareDistribution folder entirely, and then running windows update again - see if it works now.

OK, my system is updated to this point. Are you suggesting that I do updates again on the same system to see if it works? I run the risk of screwing up what I have done so far. I will image the system in its current state & then follow your suggestion unless you mean something else entirely.

Is there any info in the uploaded files that suggests a problem?

In your earlier post you implied that optional updates were not installed - are you now saying that they have installed properly?
The uploaded files are from the old install - and therefore totally irrelevant to the new one.

The old install is the previous FRESH install only by 3 hours. So the update files are the same. Regarding the options updates I finished them, but I had to go through the EXCRUCIATING time delay of checking for updates. The system is now current, but the problem still exists for future updates & if I ever have to do another FRESH install again.

How do we resolve this?

Take an image of your current install and restore that if you need to.

I should have the capability of always doing a FRESH install if it is warranted. That means I have to go through all of the updates again & the UPDATE utility should work as it is SUPPOSED to. I want a solution to this.
