Update:
I found the Windows Update Automated Troubleshooter and ran it. It says I have an error 0x80070057.

Windows Update shield not showing up in notification Area......-0.jpg

But then when I click on detailed information I see that everything was fixed:

Windows Update shield not showing up in notification Area......-1.jpg

Scroll down some more and you can see what was supposedly fixed:

Windows Update shield not showing up in notification Area......-3.jpg

But is it really fixed? So I ran the tool again. Exact same result.
1st it says its not fix in the review, but when I look at detailed it says its fixed.

Obviously its not fixed, so I'm a bit confused.

The icon in the notification area is probably not going to be fixed by that troubleshooter.

Please follow these steps...
Windows Update Posting Instructions
...and wait for NoelDP to show back up.

Please post the requested logs - the CheckSUR tool almost always exits without flagging errors, but may still have found stuff that needs to be fixed.

It looks to me like you may have a 'stuck' update - KB3006625 - which is getting in the way of things. (although why you aren't having other symptoms, I'm not sure!)

Please open an Elevated command Prompt, and run the following command

DIR C:\Windows\pending.xm* /S

It'll take a few minutes to complete - post the results...
Here are some instructions to make life easier
1) To open an Elevated Command Prompt Window (the ECP window), click on Start, All Programs, Accessories – then right-click on Command Prompt, and select Run as Administrator. Accept the UAC prompt.
2) To run the commands easier, highlight the block of commands, and right-click on the highlight – select Copy. In the CP Window, click on the black/white icon at top left – select Paste. The commands will run but may not complete the last command, so hit the Enter Key once.
3) To copy the results... click on the Black/White icon in the top left, and select Edit... 'Select All', and hit the Enter key - then use Ctrl+V or r-click+Paste to paste it into your response.
