installing updates on shut down

On update settings i selected "check for updates but let me choose whether to download and install them".

My question is can i install selected updates before shut down is completed, like it does when "install updates automatically" is selected.

Thanks

If you shut down the computer while it is receiving the download it shouldn't hurt anything. When you check again it should pickup where it left off. I don't know of any good reason to do such a thing.

Do not shut down the computer while it is in the process of installing a update.
Do not shut down the computer when the screen post (Do not turn off computer).

I take Windows Update very seriously.

1. When I'm updating Windows 7 I'm doing nothing else on the computer.
2. I wait for all updates to download.
3. If their a lot of them I install a few at a time and wait for the install to complete. Then I reboot. Go back into Windows Updates and select some more. Wait until the install is complete and reboot again. I do this until all the needed updates are complete. Then I reboot and check Windows Updates and see if their are any more updates offered.

Windows 7 Updates done in a halfbass way can cause huge problems.

You didnt understand me. I was asking how to install updates manually when "check for updates but let me choose whether to download and install them" is selected like they are installing on "install updates automatically".

On automatic updates when updates are available yellow exclamation mark is present by the shut down, and after clicking on shut down botton updates started to downloading and installing. So i want install my manual selected updates on the same way they are installed on automatically update (before shutting down computes).

I notice windows update failed some times after installing from windows update.

Reason why i manually checked for updates is new force win10 update. Before it was always on reccomended (automatically).

As far as I know you want a warning when their are Updates available with the manual setting you have now.
As far as I don't that is not going to happen. No warnings.

When set manually Windows doesn't check for so Windows 7 doesn't know their are updates.

You could try changing your settings to,

Download Updates but let me choose whether to install them.

Then go to here and choose the setting you desire for notification.

Again you didnt get what i wont. Anyway you help me to realize what to do. So i selecet "check for updates but let me choose whether to download and install them". I see what updates i want to install (i hide the others i dont want to install), selecet them and when i decide to install them just select "download updates but let me choose whether to install them", so they start to install when i shutdown computer

Hi,
Most win-10 updates are Recommended and some were Optional,
So just unchecking the box that says
Give me Recommended updates the same way as Important ones
Will separate those updates from the Important category.
