    Windows Updates failing to download/install.

Dell Inspiron 630m laptop- Windows 7 Home Premium. Since acquiring it 3 weeks ago it was installing updates without any problem. I now find that 'Important Updates' have failed to be installed in the last few days. Those failed updates are shown in the usual list which shows sucessful & failed updates.

Is there any way I can attempt to install each failed update, either individually or otherwise ?

Please follow the Windows Update Posting Instructions and post the requested data

If the file is too large (8MB compressed), remove the older CBSPersist cab files until the final file is below the limit - you can always post them separately after zipping them. (the forum doesn't allow the upload of bare CAB files, for a number of reasons)

Please also post the C:\Windows\windowsudpate.log file

NoelDP, Thanks for that, but you have lost me !! But a second read of your post looks like you are pointing me to "Windows Update Posting Instructions", which seem to be at the top of this page. I will have a look at what you are recommending.

What Windows Update Posting Instructions does is gather information about you system/problem and post the log here so Noel can have a look.
He needs those logs in order to help you.

NoelDP, and Layback Bear, Sorry for the late response on my part. What you have posted seems a bit out of my depth (70yrs +). I did try what you suggested, and have ended up with 'Windows Update Standalone Installer.' That seems to be rectifying the problem slightly.

i will have another try with the links at the top of the page, and see what result I get.

I'm sneaking up on a young 70. My 3 brain cells at times go on vacation without telling me but I adjust.
