    Cannot Update Windows 7 x64 SP1 - Error 0x80073712

I'm currently trying to get this PC updated ( father's ).

I managed to update all important ones besides the SP1.
When trying to update via update tool or manually it fails with the code 80073712.
After running the SURT and a sfc /scannow my CheckUSR looks liek this.

17 error found 11 fixed. 6 remaining in the log below.

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated!

I need to have a look at your COMPONENTS registry hive

Please copy the C:\Windows\System32\config\COMPONENTS file (no extension) to your desktop and then compress it - upload the compressed file to your favoured fileshare site (preferably Dropbox or OneDrive) and post a link.

I've had a quick look - and the signs aren't good
If I fix the errors shown above, suddenly the registry hive becomes largely unreadable, due to corruption issues.

Perhaps we should check for causes before attempting a fix...
PLeasse check out the RAM using Memtest86= - see the tutorial here...
    RAM - Test with Memtest86+
Run at least three full passes.

Memtest ran without any errors. Worth mentioning that I replaced the ram a while ago with compatible, new ram.

It may be a hangover from the old RAM, then.
I'll see what I can do with the hive - but you may want to prepare for the contingency of a repair install.
