Sorry about that - I wasn't well last week
The results there are pretty much normal.

The WindowsUpdate log shows that the system is having problems communicating properly with the MS servers - perhaps we need to reset things there and see if that changes anything...

Open an Elevated Command Prompt and run the following commands (separately - each will require a response to their warning/message)

NETSH WINSOCK RESET

NETSH WINHTTP RESET

Then reboot, and try a Check for Updates - then post the new windowsupdate.log file.

Sorry to hear you've been sick.

I ran the network reset commands. After that, I was having some problems getting Windows Update to run, so I ran the Windows Update fix in tweaking.com's Windows Repair, which made Windows Update work again.

It found a few updates to install, which I selcted to install (with the exception of SP1), and it downloaded them but after I rebooted, it failed to complete installing them.

I have attached a new Windows Update log file.

Thanks for your help.

Ooops - sorry about that!

This appears to be the critical error -

It may be worth trying to do a forced install of the Windows Update update

Download (and save) the update from the list here How to Install the Windows Update Agent on Client Computers - System Center Configuration Manager Team Blog - Site Home - TechNet Blogs

Then run the saved file - does it produce an error code/message? what is the EXACT error?
Post a new windowsupdate.log file.

The install of the WU agent completed with no errors. After the required reboot afterwards, Windows Update showed two updates, one of which was a Windows Defender definitions update. I was unable to install the two updates right away as it turned out Windows was automatically installing the WD update. After that I installed the remaining update, and Windows Update said that the update installed correctly, but it didn't. It had to revert changes when I rebooted.

I have attached the WU log file.

After I rebooted, and after copying the WU log file from the computer I ran Windows Update again, it showed no important updates. When I checked for updates it found the same two updates again.

As an update, I ran the Windows Update Troubleshooter, after which I ran WU and checked for updates. It found the same update which keeps failing. When the computer restarts after install it, the first time Windows boots, it configure the update without any error and then reboots. When Windows loads again the update files and changes are reverted.

The log is interesting - The only current error relates to KB2977759 - which is strictly for Windows 7 RTM.

The CBS log certainly looks to me to be from a SP1 machine.

I think it would be useful to have a look at the new CBS data, and the event logs.

Please run SFC /SCANNOW and CheckSUR again, and post the new CBS folder, and also...
Open Event Viewer
click on the Windows logs entry in the left pane to expand it.
Now click on the Application entry - wait while it loads.
Click on 'File' in the menu bar and select Save...
Save the file as Appevt.evtx
Repeat for the System log
then zip both, and upload them.
