I would not have Hitman and MSE on the computer at the same time.
Even if one is not running. They still might argue with each other.
Sometimes one anti virus program will start flagging the definitions of the the other anti virus program. It doesn't always happen but it can.

The combination of MSE and Hitman might not have a problem.

Just a rule of the thumb.
One anti virus program on one computer at one time.
    Their are some exceptions.

    Hello Anak, Steve,

I did it, I DID IT

There was only one Microsoft VC 90.CRT Version 9.0.30729.6161 and I deleted it. Then I got into the Windows explorer Tools and changed the settings in the hidden files as you told me to do, the 2 stupid things have gone from my Desktop.

Now I have just run an elevated Command Prompt .

It tells me : Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations

So you instructed me great style and I did exactly what you asked for .

I will try to send this clean CBS log, but I find it very difficult to get round the " findstr " line. I try copying it and then pasting it but I always end up with a " v " instead. Don't know what I do wrong there.

Then I have to type that hole horrible difficult sentence with all the spaces in the right place. Nightmare for me as I cannot use spell check

Anyway, it's don and dusted as the English say .

Thanks to everybody how was so kind to help on this thread, it is much appreciated.

PS; and I do remember now having been in that hidden file tool, but I cannot for my live remember WHY ?????
