Corrupted files
Well, I am trying to help a friend of mine and I am over my head. He asked me to do his updates on his laptop since he is working long hours so I said sure. That was a mistake as it takes forever for the updates to download. 3 updates took 1.1hours to download so off I went searching around here and found that I should run sfc /scannow. So I did and I got a message that some files are corrupted and that they could not be fixed.
Went to the Microsoft website and found Mr. Fixit for slow downloads for updates to Windows 7 and it did fix some items, but I got one error that could not be fixed.
I then checked the CBS log (as it said to) and I have no idea what I am reading. But at the bottom I do see three files that say are corrupted. Did a search and nothing is making sense to me so here I am.
Can someone help me with this? I do have a copy of the CBS log if someone wants to see it.
His system is a Windows 7 Pro 64-bit which he has another one along with several of mine; in case we want to copy some "good" files over. Thanks and I look forward to working with someone on this.
