Fake DVDs, Questionable Key Activated on Professional (Retail)

Hello everyone.
Currently, I'm in a mix between whether or not a Windows 7 Professional "Retail" copy is real.
Here's the link: Microsoft Windows 7 Professional 32 64 Bit Retail Version DVDs Product Key | eBay
Now onto the problem...

After 5 days for the installation media to arrive in the mail, I noticed that not only had Windows 7 came inside a transparent case (it wasn't even curved at the tip) the DVDs had stickers on them, which I could peel. Obviously, this would be the point that the scammed buyer would order a refund from the seller. However, the listing had approx. 163 of them sold, before and after I bought it, with 98% good reviews.

Interested, I went to scan both discs for any malware/trojans/rootkits using Avast, but nothing came up.

Curious, I went to Software Download to put in the key, and I got a genetic error message, saying it couldn't validate the key.

This is where VirtualBox came into play.
First, I went through the usual activation process (over the internet, during and after installation) and it states the activation was successful. Thinking it might be a MSDN key, I ventured to look for an alternative "second opinion".

See, here (http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/w...2-bc24dfe15544)
is where I found a website (http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/validate/) that allowed me to determine whether or not the key was indeed genuine. It also included clues to see if it was a MSDN key as well.

Since both processes worked, and I still have the fake discs (which work as well), what should be my next action? Should I go get a refund from the aforementioned buyer on eBay (return), or should I move on to dual-booting my day-to-day laptop (my next question)?

Here's the MGA Diagnostic Result:
(Excuse for the wrong time, I was testing someting out before with the period a MSDN key expires.)

I'm for sure no expert but could you post the same log from your host computer?

The big question.
Why would anybody sell a legal Windows 7 Pro (Retail) for half price.
Retail versions are like hens teeth t find even if one is willing to pay full price or more.

Microsoft never has and don't now use peel off stickers on their DVD's.

I don't know how this will make any difference, but here you go.
(I'm running Windows 10 x64 Home, upgraded from an OEM Windows 8.1, but I bet that will show in the results.)

Well your W-10 log is not helpful to me but it might be to other members. That is why I requested the log.
That is why I stated I'm not a expert.
Noel is our expert but he is a little under the weather at this time. Any information gathered could give him a head start on your thread.

That is the reason for my questions and requests.
Kind of a set up man for the 9th inning closer.

Is he the same Noel over at the MSFN forum? I know that computer expert from anywhere, so I'll take that info into consideration. :-)

As for the refund...
I just don't think buying $200 for an OS is worth the trouble. Granted, budget is important, so I guess I'll have to wait.

If I'm not mistaken, it's the product key that makes the OS function, right?
I'm still concerned about individuals selling counterfeit items, but where can I submit that these sellers are misleading in their post?

Here's another observation:
Because I was looking through my install of Professional on VB, I just happen to open up Windows Anytime Upgrade. Just for fun, I entered the Product Key found on the transparent box I stated in the first post. It worked, but maybe this behavior is apparent in all Windows 7 versions.
But if this is the case, does that mean the key is valid?

More "issues":
I can't determine whether or not this key is a retail, OEM, or MSDN key.
However, I do have images, one with the activation website, and the other with a portion of the Product ID.

I wonder if they can help.

Okay lets not make it more complicated than necessary.
The clues for counterfeit where in front of you.

eBay, half price for Windows 7 Pro Retail.

I buy all of my Windows operating system from a local dealer I trust. If their is a problem it's taken care of. I have never had a problem with Windows 98, 98SE, XP-Pro, or Windows 7 when bought from a trusted seller. In my mind eBay is not where you find trusted sellers of Windows Operating systems.

In your post #1 your key is not in my list of default keys.

If you have a problem with sellers of counterfeit Microsoft products get in touch with Microsoft.

You could also get in contact with eBay and report the seller.

Their are thousands of sites that sell counterfeit Windows 7.
Microsoft with all it's resources have not been able to stop all of them.

Do OEM activation keys always work with retail DVDs?
I tried to reinstall OS on my Vaio using retail 7SP1 DVD and VAIO's activation key (which I had to extract as it's not written on the system case). This didn't work. Perhaps I need to find Windows 7 (pre-SP1), or should I not even bother?
