Windows 7 Update Failure
Attempts to update result in continuous 'Checking for Updates' together with CPU use of 50 to 100% and very high memory use. I have to stop this endless service (wuauserv) with Task Manager. I've seen this failure all over the internet and tried all the MSoft 'Fixit's and other remedies I could find ... all with no success.
So I guess this is my last effort before I say goodbye to this PC.
Anyway, I tried to follow the instructions for posting this thread. Here are my results
1. SURT loaded up (and ran?) to 90% then stalled (yes, I waited for an hour)
2. SFC ran and found corrupt files that it couldn't fix. I cannot attach the resulting log zip file because it exceeds the forums upload limit of 8Mb (my CAB zip file is 10 Mb)
3. During a couple of my fix attempts, somewhere (MalwareBytes?)the following error message appeared:
Windows Error Not Fixed: 0x80070005 (2015-11-07T-10_31_06A)4. My 10 Mb CBS zip file is too large to upload (see #2 above) Might there be some way around this limit?
Other than Windows Update stalling, this PC runs normally.
Thanks in advance for anything you can do to solve this very time consuming Windows Update failure.
