Windows 7: Windows 7 refuse to download SP1

20 Nov 2015   #11
Layback Bear

Windows 7 Pro. 64/SP-1

This allows us to see if their is enough free space on the "C" partition.
It also allows us to see where the system flag is and if their are any other operating systems installed
that might be interfering.

-----------------

This allows us to see if Windows 7 is activated and if their are any obvious problems.
Some times when a system is not activated properly it won't except some Windows 7 updates.
I don't see any problems except that it shows that SP-1 for sure is not installed.
From the log.

Thanks Brink for putting the log in a code box.

If chewtah has followed the suggestion given by Ranger4 and McRuff as of now I see no reason why SP-1 will not install except the time waiting for it to download and install. As we know it can take a long time and one might think that things are not working.

I'm well aware of Noel's expertise and I'm also aware the Noel is a little under the weather. So if I can put a little sunlight on the problem I try.

The next step would be for chewtah to follow this tutorial by Brink to give Noel information he will want.

Please complete the tutorial chewtah.

data cap

From your original post
it has jacked up my data usage through the roof,

Do you have a data cap, SP1 is 4100Mb MS stand alone DL.
Nothing wrong with MXdiag by the way.

OK

Suggest you run it at the beginning of the month then, unless you know someone without a limit who could DL it to a USB stick.

You need the 32-bit download of Windows 7 Service Pack 1- from https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/down...s.aspx?id=5842 - the filename you need is windows6.1-KB976932-X86.exe

Some drivers are not signed and Window 7 will refuse to load them. What to do? Turn on test signing which allows Windows 7 to load unsigned drivers. To enable this you have to open a command prompt as administrator and type the following command: C:\>bcdedit -SET TESTSIGN NO Norm
