Windows Update "more information" button problem

I run a check for updates on Windows Update, and I get a "1 optional update is available". I click on it, and I get to the "select updates to install" page. I click on the available update so that it's highlighted and on the right side pane, at the bottom, I get 2 links, "more information" and "support information". Well, these don't work, when I click on them nothing happens. By the way, this happens only on my user account. If I log on with my other windows account, these buttons work just fine, and I am directed through firefox to microsoft's kb page. Any suggestions please?

I solved the problem before I had a chance to try your suggestion. First I set firefox as the default browser, and then I set IE as the default browser. Now it works fine. Thanks for the suggestion anyways.

Everyone here, I'm sure appreciates when forum members post the solution. I'm still trying to conjure up a fix protocol for a couple stubborn error messages, pertaining to Windows Update.

Been scouring the Internet for anyone that had success with them. Apparently no one else has stumbled upon it.

Repair install always corrects problem, but virtually anyone can supply that.

For your info Sysnative forum is also an excellent venue for windows issues, I'm going to start their Windows Update Academy in the very near future. Should breeze through first part, as I'm already quite versed in the subject matter.

Advanced, hive corruption, registry issues, not so, but learning a great deal.

Remember to back up your computer regularly. Many low cost external HDDs available. AOMEI backupper is an excellent free, I like FREE, backup utility, with simple user friendly interface. Can do System Image, differential & incremental backups manually, or on a schedule. can back up entire HDD (System Image) or use default which only backs up the data on the drive, not free space. Saves gobs of space on your backup drive if your computer HDD is partially full. Can choose different compression setting, less compression faster, greater compression longer. I use default. Have 2 3tb Seagate Bakup Plus external HDDs, paid just a little over $200 US for the pair, on sale.

Happy Computing?

You can check our NoelDP's posts and definitely Tom182's. Tom is Windows Update Expert, NoelDP is very. very talented as well. Learn a thing or two every day from reading their posts.
