Confused - I thought I saw your message with just thanks... then content appeared...

Anyhow,

I ran the script to remove s/w distr
I ran your re-reg Crypto script - rebooted and ran it again. Both times, I got errors that that svc/dll not registered, running.
Should I now run a similar set of cmds, but without the /u on each line, to re-register? I made a similar batch file from the original list

Yes, your second batch file, to re-register should not contain /u.
I have a sever sleep disorder & been having problems getting enough rest past 3 days. Isn't the first time I boo booed, won't be the last. didn't notice the /u missing from the second batch file listed in the link provided by torchwood

Thanks for confirming, I'll go run 2nd batch to register.

Run more than once?

I also ran sfc /scannow 3 times; each time, reported that it found no errors.

mistakes are fine, I just thought I was seeing things, but now I see the edit comments. Boo boos are normal, but documenting them respectable.

What's next after registering and restarting?

Ran the register script. Most succeeded, but the following files failed, as the required .dll file was missing:

initpki, gpkcsp, sccbase, slbcsp.

I researched and saw that the original article was intended for Vista, not Win-7. Is it possible these .dll files are not present, or have different names under Win-7?

Theory confirmed, I think.

initpki, gpkcsp, sccbase, and slbcsp.dll do not seem to be present on another Win-7 Pro x64 system I have which is healthy.

Since the other dll files registered properly, should I try to run the Windows update error-checking tool from MS?

They are not on either of my win7x64 Home Premium machines either.

I would continue with torchwood/Roy's remaining instructions.

After rebooting, I changed WU settings to "Let me choose", checked for updates, none found.
Changed WU back to Automatic install and ran the MS WU diag tool
When complete, it reported same as results at very beginning, Cryptographic service components are not registered. Not fixed.
Restarted, ran WU, check for updates
Almost right away, got Error80248019?
Frustrated....
MS note said to verify services, I started BITS and restarted Windows.
Now, WU check is OK, and comes back saying no updates needed,

Enough for tonite for me, but I would appreciate any other suggestions you have.

Did the logs I sent reveal anything?
