Windows Update gives 0x80072ee2 when IPv6 is enabled

Back in November, Windows Update inexplicably stopped working. After several weeks of diagnosis (including a reformat/reinstall of Windows), it seems that IPv6 is the culprit - it seems that my ISP recently rolled out IPv6 secretly. Unchecking the IPv6 checkbox on the network adapter finally solved the problem.

Now the question is, why does the addition of IPv6 break Windows Update? I mean, IPv4 is still there...

How ON EARTH did you discover this Raident? I have been tearing my own hair out about this for several days now. But the first PC that I turned-off IPv6 on (in the adapter's Properties settings) worked again straight-off.

I only noticed this recently since my Windows Updates for my various PCs come from my own WSUS server. But when I take my laptop to another location for several months I do need WU-direct from MS to work, and it had stopped working when I checked it the other day. Now it is working again.

I don't *think* it has anything to do with my ISPs though--I have two and WU had stopped working with both. Maybe an update since November broke this somehow????
