I won't argue with either of you since I stopped updating myself. AFAIC the biggest threat to my W7 system at this point is coming from the MS updates!

Thx Remm - I will give Sandboxie another try on my XP laptop. I already found a good tutorial on the forum there.

Meanwhile on this pc I will follow your advise and update only just before next patch Thuesday.

Wouldn't it be a help for those that still update if a list of the dangerous patches would be kept up to date in a sticky?
I am trying to do this in How to remove Windows 10 upgrade updates in Windows 7 and 8 but you have to go to post 850 to get it

There comes a point of diminishing returns. When the list gets so long with (likely) more to be added every month, it becomes a task with no payoff, considering any major bugs or security issues have long since been patched. That would be my guess as to why a sticky may not be embraced by the mods, but JMO.
