Cannot download & install newest Windows Updates

The Update setting has always been "let me choose whether to download and install them", but with the 17 Updates of February 9th, I've repeatedly checkmarked all 17, click on the OK button at bottom right, but the downloads do not begin, it just flips back to Windows Update home.

I've run Windows Update Troubleshooter: first time it said "service registration missing or corrupted" - the second time it is everything was fixed; but no updates will download.

I've run Windows Update Diagnostic; no difference.

The Sfc /Scannow has twice said there are no integrity violations.

The SURT asked if I wanted to install Hotfix KB947821, but it never showed it being installed and after an hour said "Installation finished".

There have been no error codes to report.

I'd greatly appreciate some expert guidance. Thank you.

Have you checked the description on all 17 ?

Do you need them all ?

No I haven't checked the descriptions. I've also tried checkmarking individual updates and clicking OK to see if one update at the time could be installed. Have checked 3 at the time also and other variations. There's eleven for Windows 7, 5 for Office 2007, and one for Office 2010. They all appear important for this laptop.

I simply cannot get them to download, much less install.

It's been several days; I'd greatly appreciate some guidance.

There has been no change. Whether I checkmark 1 update or all 17, when I click OK, it simply reverts back to the WU home.
I've run the Fix It (reset), the Diagnostic, the SURT, sfc /scannow.

    What else please?
