    hi, guys
    when downloading all the 200 and more updates after a fresh install of win7,

    in services, MUST the service (volume shadow copy) be STARTED, to help download all updates yes/no ????

    No - that has nothing to do with downloads. A volume shadow is a restore point.

    Since the release of win10 updates are ridiculously slow to appear & sometimes download. Usually less than 3-4 hours, sometimes as much as 24-48 though less often.

    I wonder why you are asking about this? Just leave it set to Manual as it's supposed to be, and Windows will start it if it needs to do so.

    Not sure myself re: 200 updates at a time, but WU might want to create a Restore Point somewhere along the way.
