Very slow Windows updates

Hello Forum,
For some months I am trying to make some updates to the system. First I let MS to check what updates the system is missing (mainly security), it was a whole day up to midnight, then I got the list of updates needed.
Next I selected 3 or 4 and clicked the install button, it was almost 6 hours until those 4 were installed, restarted etc. I have quit fast Internet connection, other files from other places are downloaded fast enough.
So I started to download all the updates into a folder on the computer, when all was done, I pointed on a file and right-clicked to install it - the update window opened and got "starting to download..." and I lost my patience, tried another and another, always the same.
I ran a system check, a disk check, any malware and virus check, nothing was found and no errors reported.
I do want to update my system, right now 2 are being "download", almost 3 hours passed and still not downloaded.
Some help will be appreciated.
Thanks
Motim

I rolled-back the IE 10 install back to IE 9 and enjoyed normal start-up speeds for quite...
