I have purchased a Windows 7 package online from Software geeks and installed the windows 7 O/S and at the moment it is working but I cannot activate Win 7 . I am not sure what is wrong but maybe someone can advise.

    Hi Dukerod,
Would you please install KB971033, from here
    http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=152411

You have a rather obscure retail installation from a minor OEM, Clevo.
Although the code you have input : -- 2V36J-4RK8B-GW27Q-4DXPG-RQP78 is only identified as genuine on the net, and not affiliated to the major OEM's, yours is showing as HP.

Once you have installed the KB, rerun the MGadiag.

If the errors that are listed below are still present, then unfortunately the install is classified by MS as counterfiet.

    File Scan Data-->
    File Mismatch: C:\Windows\system32\wat\watadminsvc.exe[Hr = 0x80070003]
    File Mismatch: C:\Windows\system32\wat\npwatweb.dll[Hr = 0x80070003]
    File Mismatch: C:\Windows\system32\wat\watux.exe[Hr = 0x80070003]

Admin Service: Not Registered - 0x80040154

Depending upon how they sold it to you, ie W7 Home Premium >> WITH <<< licence,
Will determine what you might do.

Repost the results, well go from there.

Hi dukerod and welcome to our forum.

Could you post exactly what you bought and from where?
A web site would be nice.
What operating system came with your computer originally?

The reason I ask is your have a OEM/SLP which only come with a computer manufacture pre installed on their system.
    From the log.

    Windows License Type: OEM SLP

Thanks Roy for your help on this , I have taken my laptop to a local repairer and he is going to look at it for me after an initial booting up he confirmed that alot of drivers are missing and other items.

The laptop with the issue is very old around 7 years but works quite well and it will be used as a back up for me and for my wife to learn a bit about computing as I have purchased a new laptop last week with win 10 installed so I am not wthout a computer.

The upshot is he is going to put windows 10 on the laptop and see what happens if it is succesful I will stick with it and put my efforts down to experience .

I will post the results on this thread and what the computer repairer recommends and subsequently does.

I will return soon Rod .

    Hi Dukerod,
Doesn't bode well, there shouldn't be "lots of drivers missing and other things" would tend to imply that its a corrupted/pirated copy of the ISO, (downloaded via a torrent site?).
Even if your tech can repair it/Upgrade it, not sure if it will activate on 10, it will fail with the error
    >> no digital entitlement <<. (error code 0xC004f210)

Your repairer will need original OEM/retail/system builder discs to RE-install 7, not repair discs

As i said in my earlier post depends on how they sold it to you, as to whether you can get a refund.

OEM/SLP keys are not legally sold separately. They are only used and installed at the manufactures factory under a agreement the manufacture has with Microsoft.

No Windows 7 COA key are legally sold by them selves.

Your installation of Windows 7 on that computer is counterfeit.

Have taken a moment to check out the site you've used and I would think that the prices they are quoting are too good to be true I would expect to pay in excess of £100 for what they are offering for £35.There used to be is a department within Microsoft that you could report such Scam suppliers too, and would often be gifted a legit key - https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/howtotell. - as windows 7 is no longer on sale from Microsoft this is less likely than it was.

Perhaps a contact with Microsoft from yourself to make them aware of this site may even get you a Windows 10 key although that is completely in Microsoft's hands
