How to avoid Win 10 updates???

OK, so I have my Windows 7 64 bit system set to "Check for updates but let me choose whether to download and install them"... and below that have the options checked to

    * Give me recommended updates the same way I receive important updates
    * Give me updates for Microsoft products and check for new optional Microsoft software when I update Windows.

So, my question is this... what is the game plan to avoid Windows 10 from jumping on my computer?

From someone else's post I found an article I'll read at
How to remove Windows 10 upgrade updates in Windows 7 and 8 - gHacks Tech News

I'm about to do some updates, so I'm trying to research this before I do.

I used Acronis so I can revert back if need be. But, I'd like to take advantage of legitimate security updates without having Windows 10 forced on me, so any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Also, I just found a program called GWX Control Panel
See - Download GWX Control Panel - MajorGeeks

Is anybody using this? If so, does it work OK and should I be looking at this program?

It's a good piece of software and so far it's working well to keep the Windows 10 installer from downloading onto machines.

OK, so you install GWX Control Panel before allowing Windows to update and it prevents downloads that install Windows 10?

And, should I change my update settings I put in my first post?

It won't prevent the Windows 10 updates from being downloaded but it will stop the installer files.
I would also untick the box "give me recommended updates the same way I receive important".

For a list of updates to avoid/hide see this thread: How to remove Windows 10 upgrade updates in Windows 7 and 8

    OK, thanks.

That's what I was thinking but I just wanted to make sure.
