    XP Pro to win7 upgrade

hi my XP Pro desktop is definately suitable to upgrade to win7, if i buy a new hard drive and install it , hook it up and buy the win7 disc is it just a simple matter of downloading / insatalling win7 onto the new drive , is this all i would have to do ?
the existing drive with the XP stuff on it can stay in the desktop , i have no use for it , i am just trying to use the easiest , most simple way to get win7 into this PC,
i really am not interested in wiping the existing drive etc i just want the most simple way to upgrade, thanks palindon

If you install Win 7, disconnect the XP drive, and all other drives where Win 7 is not being installed.
The only drive connected should be the drive you are installing TO, and the device (DVD/Flash stick) you are installing FROM.
After installing Win 7 you can re-connect any other drives.
