Hi,
So you create multiple images......once after installing Windows, 2nd after updating, next after MS office and so on.
Is a image restore has good as a clean install?
And you never tweak unrequired services?

Hi,
I understand you would be occupied.
Shall wait when you get the time to answer my queries before redoing, regarding imaging....when , hot cold etc media, services, how should I install this time ......all in one go or used method?
Do unsuccessful updates in history matter?
Macrium reflect installs on a running system......correct...can't a bootable .iso be used to create /restore images or it needs to be installed any ways?
Thanks again.
best regards!
Hi,
No need to mess with services that I've ever seem in win-7
Imaging well as said they keep from having to start over so yea they are well worth doing as much as you can stand or have space for
If you run short on space just delete an image and that will give you room for a more current image.
Where,
External hard drive is preferred I believe you got one recently ?
If you review the list of updates and note the failed ones they might of been successful higher on the list so double check all the others.
Thanks for replying.
1. Services done.
2. Correct, I have a external drive so no shortage of space.
3. Correct, the initial failed updates like one for IE11 up the list shows successful........so no need to reinstall?
4. Do I need to install Macrium reflect on W7, than create an image using rescue bootable .iso ?
5. Do I need to create an image of system reserved partition too?
6. Should I take the 1st image as such or after installing, flash, java, and Panda AV OR only Panda AV, java and flash with the last?
7. 2nd after MS Office and updates?
8. Final after all apps?
Best regards!
Hi,
Yes install macrium reflect on win-7 :)
When you first open Reflect it will alert you to create the WinPE recovery media and yes you should
A small flash drive or regular cd-+r is all that is needed.
All i ever do is use the top left choice outlined in red
I would not install Java at all why do you think you need java ?
Hi,
Thanks again.
1. I thought Java RE is a must add on like flash, for G Chrome.....
2. So both System reserved and Primary should be checked, while creating back ups?
3. Should I create images on a running system or using WinPE recovery media?
4. Should chkdsk and sfc/scannow be performed before creating the 1st image?
Best regards!
Hi,
Yes create the image while booted into windows
The Recovery disk is just for restoring the system not for creating system images.
I'd make 2 cd's in case one gets scratched.
No way Chrome has Java built in all browser read java script so java from oracle is never really needed even if a website asks to install it don't.
Ask here if you ever run into a website asking to install java please :)
Sure you can run sfc /scannow first and chkdsk if you want too :)
I hardly ever do it never finds anything.
Hi,
1. Ok, create while in windows, IF required to restore than use Recovery disk, hope its not much complicated to create a recuse cd...correct?
2. Thanks for clarifying about Java, I shall if I run into site that asks for a java tm plugin.
Appreciate all your expert assistance and patience, helping an old man.
Might keep bothering you occasionally......
Best regards!
