    Hi,
As long as you have a blank cd it's easier than falling off a log :)

    Hi,
Yes the recovery cd is only really for when you want to restore an image you already created,
Without the cd the system image is nearly useless so make 2 recovery cd's :)

The recovery cd will also have a startup repair as well you can use if the machine ever has boot problems you can try startup repair first.

    Hi,

Thanks for explaining about the recovery cd.

    A few more questions:

    1. Should I install Panda AV now or after MS Office, i.e at the 3rd step (with all apps)?

    2. While creating the images, both System Reserved and Primary be checked, for all 3 images?

    Best regards!

    Hi yes install Panda
Then install macrium if you haven't already
Then create an image of where you're are at

After that install Office and all it's updates.

Yes all partitions should have check marks on them and use the magic listing on the top left I pointed out
The only disk that should not be checked is the back up disk you're putting the system images on.

Once you get Office and all that good stuff updated create another system image
If all goes well you can delete the first 2 system images
Or keep the first it's up to you :)

Thanks for answering the questions, appreciate it as always.

Yes have installed Macrium, haven't installed Panda AV yet.

Regarding imaging wanted to confirm if both need to be checked, thought System Reserved wasn't required...

I plan to image 1st with W7 and Panda, 2nd with MS Off and updates and 3rd with all the rest......shall keep all 3 just in case.

    Thanks and best regards!

Have a great evening and week end! :)

yes system reserved is always necessary if it exists

Only time you would not need the system reserved or C partition checked is if you had another separate partition just for personal files you created called E or F partition and wanted just a system image of it.

I personally just do full images and keep everything on C partition it's a little more straight forward than dealing with 1-2-3 other partitions

Thanks for answering, I too like keeping things simple in med and life.......

    1. Created 1st back up......size of W7 with updates, Panda and Macrium was 16.9 GB.......Image size 6.66 GB.

    2. Installed MS Off, important updates available approx 360 MB.....not installed yet, size now without them is 19.1 GB.

Well Windows isn't as complicated, provided one gets a great tutor like you. :)

    Have a great weekend.

Shall keep updating and bothering you, hope that's fine with you.

    Best regards!

    Hi,
In Panda settings you can turn off Panda news if you want too,
You also don't have to associate a email with it either just click Later on the popup

    Hi Good evening,

You hit the spot, I was thinking how this Panda pop up deals could be avoided, before could figure out you replied.

    1. Installed all 29 MS Off updates size 366 MB in one go none errors.

    2. On recheck for updates found another 32, sized approx. 98 MB, the 1st 2 seem a bit confusing since have MS Off 2007 and these are for Off 2010.....care to have a look at the screen shot and share your expert views which to install of the 32?

    3. Size now is 20.2 GB, after installing the 1st 29, once you recommend, shall create 2nd image.

    4. Than lastly install, G Chrome, and general usage apps like flash, Foxit, 7zip, VLC, Revo, CCleaner, Team viewer, Skype, Freemake video convertor, downloader .....

    5. Should CCleaner, reg scan ever be run and fixed for any errors......a hypothetical question?

Hoping to hear from you, must be chillin.....

    Best regards!
