Hi, correct... How many failed updates and errors separately are acceptable for a stable W7 OS, after clean install of W7 and MS office with updating?

Like with this update I didn't get a failed update but 5 errors with each try...

Hi,
I asked Brink if he was making a tutorial for this method of clean installs
Simplifying updates for Windows 7 and 8.1
Basically 2 updates to manually install.

I'll let you know asap probably tomorrow

Thanks, smart young man, again appreciate your expert assistance.

Best regards.

Edit:

2 updates to manually install...OK.

What about errors and failed updates?

Hi,
I thought you said earlier the failed updates installed successfully higher up on the list ?

1) Use Option 3 here to clear the history.. with Brink's .bat file download to your desktop
Windows Update - Reset

Switch your update setting to Never check for updates temporarily

After the above manually install these
2) KB3145739
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/down....aspx?id=51857

3) KB3153199
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/down....aspx?id=52214

After that manually check for updates

Hi,

Thanks again for replying.

Correct, I did manage to install all updates including failed ones high up.

But my laptop was acting a bit bloated, slow not as smooth on reboot, so decided to clean install and update.

Here I got stuck at this update, like posted last evening got 5 errors on 5 tries.

Probably cause I checked kernel framework updates (earlier) in recommended along with 4.5.1. Previously checked it as per your advice while doing Office.

Every time there is something new...now after about near 10 clean installs and updating, I might be able to PM you the method not to get any errors or failed updates, which of course you could refine and post as a sticky, for members like me, wanting to clean install W7 32 bit.

Thanks for posting the links and Shawn's thread.

Hope I don't get any errors or failed updates, this time.

At the moment none..

Best regards!

Hi,
Well at this time M$ is screwing with the update servers so you may have just hit them at a bad time for an install
So seeing m$ released this I would imagine my instruction are getting obsolete
Yesterday I couldn't even login and post on a M$ community forum because their servers were messed up

Hi,

I have a blind trust in your expertise, and feel that IF you have ample time, you could definitely post a sticky on a clean error free install of W7 32 bit.

My personal, tried views.

Thanks again, hope all goes well this time, taking it slow..

Best regards.

Hi,
All I can say for sure is
I show on my 32 bit laptop that I have 290 updates
13 for Net framework 4.5.2
45 for Office 2007
232 for windows

Of which Office should always be the last item to install once all the others have been installed so that would come to about 245 as of May's round of updates.

I do exclude the already post 23 Optional section updates other wise I'd have win-10 stuff plus a lot of remote desktop stuff I don't need at all.

So to look at how many are installed just go to Uninstall a program
On the top left click on View installed updates
They will show up there even if you clear your updates history using Brink's tutorial's option 3 I posted earlier.
