    Hi there ThrashZone,

    Hope all is well?

I tried various methods but still was getting a few errors.

Than I tried a hybrid, your plus Derek's method.......all was going fine till this.

    After your method,

    1. Installed IE11.

    2. .NET frameworks 4.x.x......all in one go went fine.

    3. Than SP1, update.

    4. Next .NET frameworks 3.x.x all went good except 2.

    5. Than W7 security updates, of 122 100 got installed.

In the attachments these 20 won't get installed.....do I need to install some recommended ones, could be that the important ones have dependencies on some of them?

Hoping to hear from you and Derek.....

    Best regards!

PS: After installing the recommended .NET framework 4.5.2 and installing IE11 and rerun for check for updates there nos increased........

    Hi,
I would install this one which is not listed
    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/971033
Also this for your 32 bit
    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/down...s.aspx?id=3132

Also not sure why but click the start button and Right click the Computer listing and click on Properties
Scroll to the bottom and make sure it says Windows is Activated.
    Minimize that window.
It helps at times when the update system is acting odd.

It would be good to create a system image after installing the above update :)
Then try the Important updates again
After let us know what happens,

If all installs go to these,
Also the Modem update too which is listed.
I would go ahead and install all of these too except for Net 4.6.1 do not install that one
    Failing to update?-install.jpg

    Then exclude these for win-10

    Hi TharshZone,

    Have a few questions:

    1. Windows is activated and genuine.

    2. Alnost after each install of a update/ updates, ran check for updates, it was quick and at times revealed 1 or more than earlier.

    3. But now when I run it keeps going for 30 mins plus with none results?

    4. Do I need to install both kernel updates?

    5. If this procedure of install is such a hassle with same errors, wouldn't it be better, to do your suggested method... End result is almost the same few errors?

    6. Could indexing be the issue, and be unchecked from the bee beginning?

    7. If installing and updating W7 32 bit such a headache, won't it be better to purchase a W 10 DVD?

    8. Installed all recommended updates, hoping that may resolve the issue but not, now going to uninstall all except the 4 you mentioned.

    9. Do I create a back up after W7 or after both 7 and MS office... Using Macrium reflect?

    Hoping to hear from you,

    Best regards!

    Hi,
Actually you were supposed to create a system image before loading any of the recommended updates

Can't comment on the win-10 disk question or indexing besides the install should index all you need indexed ?

The longer search is likely normal you just installed a lot of updates and the search time really depends on processor speed and m$ server load.

So how are the updates installing any failed ones to shows us out of the Recommended list ?

    Hi ThrashZone,

    1. All 4 updates, (excluding W10 ones and .NET 4.6.2) got installed from the recommended ones.

    2. After that the left 20 important got installed in one go too....W7 is currently up to date no important updates available).

    3. You never mentioned on how to create a system image before installing any updates.....how do I create one, at what stage (before activation), can I place the image on a media, its pros? Do I need to create more images and at what stages?

    4. Now I plan to redo the installation.....what would your recommendation be....(like once in 4 decades of practicing med a patient took me by surprise by asking doc, would you have treated yourself using this technique if you were suffering from the disorder.).......Similarly I would ask you if you were to clean install W7 32 bit and MS office how would you do it?

    5. Should I go by the hybrid plan recommended by you and Derek or all in one go?

    6. When should unrequired services like media player etc be tweaked?

Thanks again and hoping to hear your expert thoughts,

    Best regards!

    Hybrid plan used:

    1. Your mentioned method.

    2. Install ie11.

    2. Install .NET 4.x.x all in one go

    3. Install SP1 update.

    4. Install .NET 3.x.x. all in one go.

    5. Recommended 4 updates.

    6. W7 updates, update for ie11 and 1 .NET 3.x.x. left.

After each step check for updates.

This was the method I used.

    Hi,
    Great news

Sorry yes you'd want to install Panda free first after getting all the updates installed
FREE and lightweight antivirus - Panda Security

Then just download and install Macrium Reflect
    Macrium Reflect Free

asap after those are done create an image
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KQA7NlLvxg8

Then you can install Office and install those updates and make sure all is well
Then load any other programs you need too and drivers missing you need.
Once that's done make another system image.

Not sure why you want to start over again do you just want to practice :)

Thanks again, wont have been possible with out your expert advise.

1.The reason for redoing is correct just wanna practice and try getting a total error free update......

    2. Is Panda light better vs Avast free.......any recommendations for a software updater app to check, which is built in Avast free?

    3. Macrium reflect image after W7 is up to date and 2nd image after Office and all required programs .....correct?

    4. Do you agree with my used method, or would still recommend all in one go?

    5. Do you recommend tweaking of services, if yes at what stage?

    6. Should C> Windows > updates > Software dist. > Download folder contents be deleted?

    Best regards!

    Hi,
    Yes
I would not use Avast it is so bloated it will likely slow your machine down.
Yes again the last image can replace the first if you want it is in case the office updates go badly
Always make a system image before downloading and installing updates !!!!!

I just got reminded of that yesterday
    Loaded this months updates
On restart I got nothing but a black screen
Having a system image before made it so easy to undo that problem
