    Thanks I thought that might be the case, I read through that but I didn't see anything about bios? I did upgrade bios before installing the new hardware. The motherboard is GIGABYTE GA-H67MA-UD2H-B3 and I installed the F8 bios from here

    I cant see your Bios settings, but in my earlier post, you need Eufi set, have you?
    And also in that posting they were talking about GTP format

    Sorry to be such a newb, but I don't know what eufi is and how to check it or change it in bios. I will Google it later tonight and post again.

    Roy, I read through the links for UEFI bios and it looks like its only needed on disks that windows is installed on. The 4tb drive I added was just for storage and windows is not installed on it. SO back to square 1 with the 3tb+ unlocker

    im still leaning towards the storage device causing the non-genuine.

    No I don't, I know I created one but it must have been overwritten when I tried to update some drivers to fix it. If I restore to the oldest one, it doesn't then restore old restore points does it?
