is there a new win10 upgrade update?

l had an issue with windows update which required me resetting components.. afterwards l made sure to check for the updates l dont want, not one of the get windows 10 ones was present (granted l didnt look at each support article as l was behind by a few on the laptop which l havent started in a little).

however l do have a list of the updates l dont want to install.. yet the win 10 upgrade is back l removed the program dir manually because l couldnt find an associated update.

just wondered if anyone knew if there was a newly labelled one.

Hello timeless look there are so many updates re 10 - I got tired of trying to keep up with what they entailed and I don't know if you have come across these I have it on all my dedicated 7 machines to stop the flow.

Upgrade to Windows 10 Update - Enable or Disable in Windows 7 or 8.1 - Windows 10 Forums < I run the disable batch file from this

and to keep up with the updates/ 10 files I use this Ultimate Outsider - Software Downloads < just use the GWX Control Panel and after the initial work is done then it is only a matter of checking daily to delete any 10 files - see my pic

Edit I meant to say it will show in Updates that there has been no recent updates!! and I keep the GWX CP icon on the desktop for ease of use.

strange thing was l searched for every one of them but couldnt find out why the win10 icon suddenly appeared.. either way lve gotten rid of the icon and updated should theoretically be disabled now, however lm going to run the fixes etc on my laptop before l contemplate doing my pc (it says the app is present but it was disabled, and l cant remember doing that however this install is a restore from an image from a while back and l cant remember the tweaks l ran back then).

    Hi,
The biggest tweak is getting your windows update setting set so these Recommended updates are not mixed up with Important updates,

Then it's just a matter of ignoring the Optional section updates unless they address an issue you're having.
Then get rid of the win-10 related updates

Yep and another thing if you are ok with doing stuff in registry - I do from time to time is go in as admin and bore down into the HKEYs LOCAL MACHINE & CURRENT USER > Software > Microsoft > Windows > Current version and go down that listing and look for the GWX entry if it is there and right click it and delete

Mind you it is always best to back the reg first before you do in case you hit an entry you don't want gone Registry - Backup and Restore
