    Windows Update - Windows 7 X64 SP1 - Another Infinite Spin case.....

Now it's 2:30AM of 02/06/2016....... i have reformatted my PC and i have reinstall windows 7 from scratch about 8 hours ago.

I have tryed to use "Windows Update" from first reboot.......... and it's NEVER Working
I have obtain from beginning an infinite spin and no advice... no warning... no error code nothigs of nothings.... i can see only the infinite spin and say "Searching Update...".

In some case i have wait about 1 hours...... during this hours i have reinstall a lot of programs like "WinRar" and other primal usefull app (NotePad++.....) but nothing appends on Windows Update.
I have also need to reboot my pc about 3 o 4 times (for example after i have reinstall the driver of Video Card) and at the reboot i have retry to re-lauch "Windows Update" but again i obtain infinite spin.

    Another little trouble:
When i click on "Obtain windows for other microsoft product" i obtain a page say to me to lauch "Windows Update" from Start Menu i do not obtain the prompt for upgrade Windows updgrade to Microsoft Upgrade and the state ever remain on "You receive updates: Only For Windows" and it's wrong because here i should say "You receive updates: For Windows and other microsoft product" but it's not appening.

I have download the "Windows6.1-KB947821-v34-x64.msu" but i don't have executed yet.... if before someone want to check some my log file or similar ask whitout a problems.

Ah i need to say a warning...... This afternoon i go on vacation for "Liberation Day" whit my family and i can't reply or post info here...... please wait and help me.... when i back to my home i immediatelly return on this thread and watch if someone can help me and post all info how you want.
    Thanks in advance...........

    Hello DJDiabolik,

Firstly, don't bother reinstalling Windows 7 again, it will not fix the Windows update issue.

    Try this:
Set Windows update to Never Check for updates.
Go into start menu and type services.msc
Scroll down to the Windows update service, Stop it and set it to "Manual".
    Reboot the PC.
Install the latest Windows update client https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/kb/3138612
    Again reboot the PC.
Go back into services.msc and change it to "Automatic (Delayed Start)".
Close services and open up WU again.
Set it to your preferred setting (I have it set to Check for updates but never download).
    Start the Windows update search.
Be prepared to wait for up to 2 hours.
    Hopefully this should improve it.

Secondly, to fix the "Other" updates not appearing in WU see my fix here: Cant get other microsoft updates

Basically, all you have to do is run the Silverlight installer and check the option to look for updates in the installer. This will then restore the other updates into WU. This is a bug with the WU plugin on Windows 7. Silverlight installer seems to fix it. You can then uninstall Silverlight again, if not required.

    Hope this helps?

Ops... i'm back here after about 2 week.............. i have need to repair my pc and it's turned off this last two week.
This afternoon i have change the RAM and the Power Supply and now it's fully worked.............. i have tryed to launch the manual check and i have reobtain the "Infinite Spin" again and it's "blocked" in this state for about 3 hours.

I don't have idea how i need to do....................... i have tryed this:
Setted to never check upgrade and stop the services and setted to manual........ reboot my pc. At restart i have set the services to automatic delayed....... at this point i have opened windows update.. change setting and start a manual check...... no apparently solution

    *EDIT*
And also i have tryed now the first suggestion procedure...

But when i try to install "Windows6.1-KB3138612-x64.msu" i obtain a message says it's already installed........

Just wanted to thank Brds7t7. Downloading the updated installer fixed the problem, and Windows is downloading its hundreds of updates as I type this.

I altered the URL to en-us, for my machine, and that worked.
